See the thing is
we don't even try to think about
others feelings anymore
we just go with the flow
And forget others have feelings too
we just think about ourselves so self-centered don't even realize
how we're paralyzing others feelings
when we tell them we don't care

because the truth is we do care
we are just scared to admit that
we're just scared that people
will think we're uncool
for caring about someone else
it's a crappy way to live
but yet that's how the world works
and we say we're going to change
And that we're going to do things
to make the world a better place
but yet we keep acting the same way
trying to put others down
because we can admit our Self Doubt

You can call me selfish
and you can call me lame
for not going along with
making others feel pain
it's not okay what you're saying
you really should stop and think
about what you're trying to do
you're saying you want to put others down rather than help them
because helping them takes too much time wow is that really the message
you want to send out about yourself
crazy no one thinks
about other people

because the truth is we do care

but I've realized my mistakes
and won't let another person
walk out of that door thinking
that I don't care about their pain
or what's happening to them
because the truth is
I do and I never want to see anyone get hurt but the world we live in makes me think
I'll never be able to live up to my mission
it's sad you know

We're all just self-centered
and can't realize when we've made a mistake and then when we realize
that we've made a mistake
we don't try to fix the mistake
because who cares about that mistake
the mistake is in the past
no one cares about the mistake
but see the thing is
the people we've hurt care about that mistake because that mistake made them feel weak and it made them feel like no one cares
made them want to go home and die
and made them go home and cry
because you made them feel like no one cares so yeah your mistake was just a mistake

because the truth is we do care
we are just scared to admit that
we're just scared that people
will think we're uncool

Wait one second let me backtrack
I'm just sitting here thinking that
the reason that these kids wind up depressed is because they've tried to talk to someone
and no one took them seriously
no one actually cares
no one thought to say
hey how are you doing today
because we're so self-centered
and we just focus on ourselves
and what others would think
so what is the popular kids are ignoring that one depressed kid
that doesn't mean you have to
be the bigger person stand up for what is right and who you are and what it's true to you
don't be the cause of a problem
be the reason the kid
didn't go home crying today
