iosangel:

What are some of the examples of the use of fire as an image in “The Tyger”? How does this imagery affect the mood of the poem?

iosangel:

here is the poem Tyger, tyger, burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry? In what distant deeps or skies Burnt the fire of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand dare seize the fire? And what shoulder and what art Could twist the sinews of thy heart? And, when thy heart began to beat, What dread hand and what dread feet? What the hammer? what the chain? In what furnace was thy brain? What the anvil? what dread grasp Dare its deadly terrors clasp? When the stars threw down their spears, And watered heaven with their tears, Did He smile His work to see? Did He who made the lamb make thee? Tyger, tyger, burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Gdeinward:

Are there any answer choices as well?

iosangel:

No

Gdeinward:

Do you have any ideas?

iosangel:

Not really

Gdeinward:

To me the way the poem reads, it seems fire shouldnt be the only focus here, but the night as well.

Gdeinward:

When theres fire in the night, what feelings are brought up and out of the reader?

Gdeinward:

What tones are created?

Gdeinward:

When the fire shines in the darkness of the night, it's symbolic in the sense that it stands out, and attracts everyones attention

Gdeinward:

Also, the contrast between the fire and the night brings an intense visual for the reader.
