Bubbly:

Which object is being acted on by balanced forces? Group of answer choices a snowflake that falls and lands on a roof a car that moves at a constant speed in one direction a skateboard that rolls increasingly faster down a hill a baseball that rolls to a stop in a field

Bubbly:

D or B?

DuarteME:

According to Newton's laws, if the net force acting upon a body is zero, then its acceleration is also zero. In fact, from \(\vec{F} = m\vec{a}\), we get: \(\vec{F} = \vec{0} \implies \vec{a} = \vec{0}.\) What does that tell us about the velocity?

Bubbly:

okay so would that make my guess correct?

DuarteME:

B is actually okay. Since the ball is moving in one direction, both the velocity and the speed are constant. You should think a little bit better about D. Could the ball be rolling to a stop if its velocity were a constant?

Bubbly:

I agree I think its b

DuarteME:

I think so to. (: In fact, if the ball is coming to a stop, some force must be acting upon it. In this case, that force is friction.

Bubbly:

thank you
