to get into the specifics:
- you'd use a mass balance to measure out the mass of sodium bicarbonate, and a metal spatula to remove it from the container
- you would use a beaker (with a good margin above 50 mL) and fill with 50 mL of water. you'd use a graduated cylinder to measure out the volume of water
- when you're combining a base + water you need to add the base to the water, not the other way around
- you'd stir the solution manually or use a magnetic stir bar to dissolve the sodium bicarbonate evenly
