Unless your school lets you use a calculator, you'll need to use the formula for calculating the r value. And I never used that because we were allowed a calculator, so look it up maybe

Hanna:

We can use calculators

Hanna:

So would I just take x and divide it by y?

justjm:

Do you have a TI 84? If so, go to stat, then edit, and in L1, put one column. Then go to L2 and put the next column. Then go to mode, make sure stat diagnostics is ON, then go back to STAT, then go to CALC, and then go to option 4:LinReg(ax+b). It will tell the linear regression as well as r and r^2 values

justjm:

No you wouldn't.

Hanna:

No I don't have the TI-84

justjm:

Or you could spend your lifetime calculating by hand using this formula XD

justjm:

Fine, gimme a sec, I'll do it on mine

Hanna:

LOL xD

justjm:

It's 0.771 if x=items purchased and y-hat = bags used

Hanna:

Thank you so much! I owe you.

justjm:

So is this AP/college statistics? How are you not allowed a TI 84?

Hanna:

I have to buy my own and I'm not gonna buy something for that much and I'm only gonna use it a few times.

Hanna:

And it's prob. and stats.

justjm:

Oh okay.

Hanna:

Yeah

SemiDefinite:

you can easily do this on a ClassWiz, and so much more. A very cheap date when it comes to doing well in exams.

justjm:

Wow, just looked it up and it's pretty damn cheap for that type of calculator.

Hanna:

Okay thanks
