Intro to linear algebra
How do i prove that the following equation is linear. \[x-2y+3z = \sqrt5\]
You see how the variables are all powers of 1? That's how you know it's linear
\(x^2+y=1 \)is not linear \(\sqrt{x}+y=2\) is not linear \(23x+12y+z+a+b+c=2\) is linear
Ok but is there an algebraic way to prove that the given equation is linear ?
um...I never learned of any. I've only learned to just look at the powers.
Got it. Thanks mate :)
Btw are you done with linear algebra ?
nope, I'm almost done.
I was gonna ask, it's almost december and you've just started linear algebra, what for? xd
I see. K thanks bud. Really appreciated (:
I’m preparing myself ahead of time for the next year classes.
oh okay, I'd say skip all the easy stuff. Just learn how to 1. Reduce a matrix into reduced-row-echelon form 2. Learn how to find the inverse of a matrix 3. Learn how to find the determinant of a 2x2 and 3x3 matrix. and that'll get you started
I’m going to blow through this course in about month and a half. And then start physics.
I see (: thanks for the tip buddy :)
I literally just started the textbook. I’m at introduction to systems of linear equations. Tell me the key points to remember in this unit
1. Reduce a matrix into reduced-row-echelon form 2. Learn how to find the inverse of a matrix Just these 2.
Sweet. Thanks bud :)
and whatever formulas they give you I guess, or you can deal with them when class starts.
Yeah I’m gonna include the formulas in my solution that way i don’t forget them
Actually, the formulas are for proofs. and those kinda suck. messing around with matricies is like actually doing math calculations. They just take a long time
I see. Btw is linear algebra harder than college level calculus ? So far it doesn’t seem tbh but what do you think ?
I think it's easier.
Sweet LOL
But you have to memorize more formulas.
Like more formulas to memorize, and all the calculations are addition and multiplication
Btw there’s no trig in my textbook lol
barely any trig
Or at least that’s what i see lol
There's only like 2 problems I've had to deal with trig so far.
Sweet!
and they were like special homework types
Man, you’re really boosting up my confidence. LOL
yeah just get going on how to solve a system of linear equations with a matrix for now
Yeah. Thanks for boosting up my confidence. Really appreaciated your company pal :)
