Invention for driving on the snow: Consider the fact that spraying water snow will turn it into slush, making it easy-peasy to drive on. Yeah it'll turn into ice later but not for a while.

I'm sorry, but thats kinda stupid
wheres your water source?
also sounds like there could be complaints of wasting water, and theextra water would wash more pollutants into water sources
maybe is the tires could have like a heating system in it or better yet let the cemet have heating properties
|dw:1575307224641:dw|
eh, it still looks stupid to me.
nice drawing though
|dw:1575307275665:dw|
if theres snow and ice, the sun wont be hot or bright enough
|dw:1575307354717:dw|
oh my god this is stupid
better, but then what happens if the water runs out? how will the car support the weight of the water tank?
stupid
Add a trailer with a big water tank
car
for extreme cold, the water woudl freeze almost instantly
|dw:1575307295398:dw|
the water gun would freeze over and get clogged
Interesting. Instead of using water, why not use salt which melts the snow?
the heat underneath the road will melt the ice
then it will go in the runoffs
Can't afford that much salt
the heat wont be there because its a cold wintery environment
not one of your best ideas
um i have a better idea |dw:1575307478620:dw|
Yeah just live in FLorida best fix 100%
I live in Florida, so.....
smart right
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Babyplier I live in Florida, so..... \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) I quoted myself
its not smart some ppl cant go to fl
Fair enough. Guys lay off, lol. It's their idea/invention, but I'm aware that you guys are trying to be helpful and giving ideas and all, but you could of just pointed out a few pros and cons for it and left it at that instead of trying to start stuff. e.e
I don't know how to really think in this direction because I've lived in Florida for the majority of my life where we see snow on the TV. But eh maybe think of something more innovative than pressure washing the snow. What can get rid of snow quickly? Let's examine it's chemical composition. It's not just pure water, there's other granules that impact its properties. Maybe there's a stronger salt than NaCl that can break down its intermolecular forces? Is there a salt that can react with the snow to form a new compound that is not as hazardous as driving on snow? Or how about you change the road infrastructure in a way that it can make it less slippery.
I'm looking DMSO (since it has a high melting point) and wondering how easy it is to get it
looks like you can't but there is ONE thing that is abundant with a low freezing point
|dw:1575307998462:dw|
why urine?
Actually that would be a smart idea. Using urine but what about the smell?
lower freezing point than water
Agreed. Chen and I always talk about these things so He understands
still, why urine. also, how do you get that much of it?
Isn't it obvious
ik, but it'd take soooo long
How would you collect, and how would you keep the streets clean, and what about the runoff into fresh water sources?
|dw:1575307825617:dw|
yuck
like it
Another idea: incorporate salt crystals on the surface of roads |dw:1575308144708:dw|
The salt would waste away, ruining the strength and structure of the orad
By salt I don't mean NaCl, you could use a salt with a much higher lattice energy. then it won't wear away
It would need to be repaired more often
true
Perhaps one could add a substance that mimics the property of salt, but on a much larger scale
|dw:1575308303028:dw|
use saltwater!!
Wether those substances exist I do not know
But including the salt within the road would be very beneficial. It might even solve the rust problem with northern vehicles
|dw:1575308359745:dw|
SALTWATER
that sounds dagerous. What about other cars on the road?
oof idk
Here's the logic behind embedding salts: |dw:1575308519020:dw|
and once they dissolve phase change will happen because of freezing point depression
wow, call really took this far, huh?
The salt-embedded roads idea is so perfect that the idea is already there :( https://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/salt-embedded-asphalt-roads-permanent-clear-from-ice/
