Trivial question. Who invented the equal sign?

You could just look it up. It's Robert Recorde.

But who invented the concept of an equal sign? That I'm no so sure, I'd go back to ancient times to see about that. Maybe it's vested somewhere in the Greeks or Egyptians or South Eastern descent, who knows?

Yes. I recently visited Tenby in South Wales . There was a plaque in the church in his honour. He was born in Tenby and became a Physician to the Queen of England. He wrote treatise in Algebra Geometry and Astronomy.

He lived from about 1510 to 1558. If you ever go to the UK Tenby is a must to visit. Great history and old buildings in Tenby itself and nearby towns. Beautiful sandy beaches.
