Tips for writing notes.

justus:

1. Date your notes and make the main topic visible If you assign a title to your notes you can easily tell what they're all about at first glance. Including a date and title, ideally clear at the top of the page, helps you to organize and locate your notes at a later date. 2. Write down the important points only Don’t scribble everything that is being said word for word. You would be so consumed by copying everything that you wouldn’t have the time or brain space to process the information. Instead, listen and then summarize what you’ve learned in your own words. Keep your sentences short, use bullet points and numbered lists. 3.Use color A sensible use of color could add variety and clarity to your notes. Try using one color for your key points for example, and another for the examples. Or use a color to signal your own comments and opinions, instead of the speaker's. 4. Use illustrations and drawing Drawing plays an important role in our cognitive growth. It can help us learn creatively to compose and think, improve hand-eye coordination, fine-tune analytical skills and visualize ideas. That is why drawing is so important, and why school skills should be taught to children. 5. Keep your notes organized Keep notes in one location for each subject so that when it comes time for a study, you can find it quickly. This may mean keeping a journal or a notebook section for each subject while you take notes in the class.
