SMART
There is a right and wrong way of setting goals If you're not setting your goals the right way, then you're going to lack the right targets, which will cause you to fall off track. But if you set the right direction for them, the sky is the limit. (S) — Specific The first step in setting a SMART goal is to get it accurate. You've got to be specific about what that goal is. It can not be left in the abstract, and has to be written down. Specific targets are much more likely to be met. It's as if you're taking them to the real world from the abstract. They're true the moment you write them down. Define them with a great deal of precision and detail. (M) — Meaningful If a goal isn't important, it's not achievable. In the first step, the trackable metric is established where you get precise about the target, but you must also have a strong and clear justification enough to achieve it. Reasons come first. Answers come second. If you have ever desired something bad enough in your life before, then you know just how it feels by setting concrete goals to conquer limitations. You have to have a good enough understanding behind the details of your target. (A) — Achievable Set goals you can meet. Only make sure the goals are achievable in the short term. This will help give you guidance for your life so you know where you're going. It provides clarity of purpose and calculated actions to achieve the end results. It’s a powerful tool that resides in both your conscious and subconscious minds when you know what you’re after in the long term. (R) — Relevant Your SMART goals have to be important to your life. The targets must also be in line with your values and beliefs. The thing that most people sometimes trip up is that they choose targets that go against their values. Such priorities often contradict even their core values. Consider specific targets that are in line with your values and beliefs and in the long run you will do far better. (T) — Time-Based SMART goals are time-based. We have an exact date which is chosen when those targets are to be reached. You can easily set milestones on your way to that target. It can be broken down into monthly, weekly, and even daily goals. Dwelling on what you need to achieve now to accomplish a goal is much better than dwelling on the enormity of something that's one year out.
