How is my note-taking?
I used green pen for formulas, blue pen for important side-notes, and red pen for cautions so far...
mmmm... pretty good, but doesn't hold a candle to @Vocaloid's MAD note-taking, yo voca drop some notes
looks nice. all that really matters is that your system works for you and helps you learn/remember things.
Okay, what if I told you my system isn't working
how so? do you feel like it's your note-taking system that's holding you back
I want...more colors and less info
It's hard to memorize my notes, that's the problem.
So do you use colors when you take notes, and like what does each color represent
idk how much it really helps but I tend to pick a darker color for major headings, then a lighter color for smaller things like major vocab words or concepts |dw:1579139779181:dw|
math notes are hard to condense down though
WOW!! Amazing notes there @Vocaloid
Oh you highlight them instead xd
do you think flashcards might be more helpful? sometimes when I have a crap ton of info I break it down into smaller pieces so I can just study a bit at a time w/o having to stare at a whole page of notes |dw:1579139937055:dw|
Flash cards would be great for memorizing vocab, but not really for math
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @mhchen Flash cards would be great for memorizing vocab, but not really for math \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) For math, I also find it very difficult to take notes. I barely do much notes, I spend more time practicing concepts and taking notes of specifications that I might not remember/find easily in a book
^ yeah that's a good point, my math notes just end up being too much like the textbook/lecture notes |dw:1579140144212:dw|
Yeah. IMO math is more of a skill and would be retained as procedural memory bc it gets more intuitive. It's kind of like driving a car to an extent. I learned through trial and error and found that taking notes would be more time consuming but I didn't understand the concepts better. So I just take notes of things that are like rare cases or something I do not understand and need to look over again.
yeah sorry wish I could be more helpful if I can leave with one parting advice I would avoid spending too much time thinking about/making notes, and just spend that time studying/doing practice problems or whatever. you'll get more return for your investment that way.
WOW!! Amazing notes there @mhchen
LOL
...pretending I didn't heat Vocaloid's suggestion....I noticed my blue ink has higher contrast against my white paper than pink and green, with green having the lowest, and I can ignore saturation cause none of the pen sizes are fat enough. Order of importance: Blue Pink Green Now where to put my gray pencil marks in that ranking....I guess I'll leave it at the bottom. Most important: Formulas Second most important: ......I DON'T KNOW
@Vocaloid How can you understand the title when you trace it with pen over marker?
Blue: Formulas/Definitions Pink: Theorems Green: side notes for pencil marks Pencil Marks: Examples, and everything else ahh there we go. Good work for today. Now I'll study :b
I only do that for the titles as an aesthetic thing (I don't just take notes for myself, I run an academic blog so visuals are more important to me than the average person)
Okay.
I personally only use pen because it shows up better on camera, but pencil is fine for personal user
I followed justus' note-taking tips somewhere. "Date your notes" -- I did that on top Title your notes -- didn't do that, not sure what my math teacher is trying to teach Write down important points only -- yup Use color -- oh yeah Use illustrations and drawing - Won't help for now, but maybe later Keep notes organized - one notebook and folder for each class.
Now I gotta figure out how to stop my mind from daydreaming all the time
Haha I never knew anyone would follow
