In Antigone by Sophocles, Antigone is aware of the deadly consequences of burying her brother Polyneices against the king’s order. Yet she goes forward with it anyway because she can’t bear to let her brother's corpse rot and serve as food for scavenging birds. What theme of the play does her action reflect?

KatMon01:

Antigone's decision to bury her brother even against the King's order supported the theme of Civil Law vs Morality. Antigone dared to disobey the King's order in order to do what she felt was right and save the memories of her brother from further humiliation and degradation. Hope this is what you needed.
