Ncarthan3:

Jake scored 269 points on three math tests. To get an A for the class, his average number of points on four tests must be no less than 90. If Jake hopes to get an A, how many points must he score on the fourth test?

Mercury:

average test score = (sum of all test scores) / (number of tests) he already has 269 points across three tests. so if we let the fourth test score = x, then the total sum of all test scores on four tests is (x + 269) he wants an A average, so average test score = 90 he is taking a total of four tests, so number of tests = 4 should be straightforward from there. plug in the appropriate values and solve for x.
