check my work? In proteins, the initial blueprint for the amino acid order is determined by: nitrogenous bases in DNA there is no order in amino acids nitrogenous bases in RNA<<

haleigh041:

what do you think the answer is?

iosangel:

The last one

haleigh041:

i'm not 100% sure but I think that is correct

iosangel:

thank you , I have a 3 more questions if you're willing to help?

haleigh041:

sure :)

haleigh041:

you can either post them or dm me :)

iosangel:

Another mutation in another person changed the insulin gene to read TCT instead of the normal TGA. Using your codon chart, look up the amino acid that is coded for by both the normal and the mutant DNA. Will this person be diabetic, again assuming this is the only mutation in the gene? 1) Yes, insulin won't be produced because the codons are different 2) No, the same amino acid is produced 3) Possibly, need the rest of the DNA sequence to tell for sure I think the answer is #2

iosangel:

Non, nvm I got this

haleigh041:

okay, good luck! dm if you still need help

iosangel:

Thank you

haleigh041:

you're welcome

"In proteins, the initial blueprint for the amino acid order is determined by: nitrogenous bases in DNA there is no order in amino acids nitrogenous bases in RNA" It would not be C, but rather A. RNA, or more specifically the mRNA here, is just serving as the 'messenger' for the actual codons in the DNA, hence the name. The nitrogenous bases and their unique order in DNA is the initial and main blueprint for the amino acid order.
