in general, the amount spent (a) number of items that cost (b) each, the total amount spent would be a*b applying this logic to the blouses, the amt. spent on blouses = (price per blouse)(number of blouses) same logic for socks, amt. spent on socks = (price per pair of socks)(number of pairs) putting everything together: (price per blouse)(number of blouses) + (price per pair of socks)(number of pairs) = (total amount spent) fill in the appropriate values and variables from the equation
