Explain how the North and the South/West both benefitted from the American System and were also both hurt by it?

Vocaloid:

@isry when you get a chance, would you mind taking a look at this question?

Isry:

I need a little more information to go off of as their are numerous American systems. If I knew the time period I could answer it no problem.

Isry:

There*

Vocaloid:

should confirm with OP later but I have a suspicion it's referring to Henry Clay's American System https://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/common/generic/Speeches_ClayAmericanSystem.htm

Isry:

Ah thanks Voca that makes much more sense. Basically the American System was a three part plan to improve the American economy. The first part was putting large tariffs to protect American industry, the second was to set up a national bank, and the third was to set up infrastructure such as roads and canals. This plan mostly benefitted the North as they were an industrial economy so they benefited the most from the policies as they would be able to buy and sell goods at better either the South or the West would get from international sources because of the tariffs imposed by the federal government.

Isry:

From this information how do you think the North, South and West felt about this plan?
