Though they didn't have electricity back in Leonardo's day (it wouldn't be until 300 years later that it became available) he was able to use simple machines such as the wedge, lever, pulley, wheel, and plane. How would you describe how one of these simple machines work to the class in terms of how it directs force?

AngeI:

If you have a wheel and rope you can reverse the direction of the force. You would pull the rope down to lift the weight up. " If you want to lift something that weighs 100kg, you have to pull down with a force equivalent to 100kg, which is 1000N (newtons)."
