justus:

Which of the following will cause the demand curve for gasoline to shift leftward? Select one: a. a significant decrease in the price of cars b. an increase in taxes on tires and automobiles c. an increase in the price of gasoline d. a decrease in the price of gasoline e. a leftward shift of the supply of gasoline

justus:

I believe it's A

justus:

wait actually I read it it wrong

justus:

I think its b

justjm:

For B, if it means to say that the tax is put on the production of tires, then it would shift the supply for tires to the left, hence increasing price. Tires and gasoline are complements I would assume, so the increase in price of a complement will decrease the demand curve for the other good. So in that sense B would be right. @geerky42
