Why did Gandhi encourage Indians to weave their own cloth?
Because the British had captured India's textile industry, so all the revenue of the laborious civilians did not go towards the welfare of India but the welfare of 'HuMaNe' British. It was kind of like a boycott.
Not to mention, the evil British robbed several more of India's industries. They robbed the land that was once called 'The Golden Bird'. They looted 43 trillion (USD) from India's total expenditures. They stole the Kohinoor, the world's most precious and expensive diamond, which is now what 'QuEeN' ElIZaBeTh wears on her crown. And today, when they are inquired about their vicious actions, they call the Kohinoor as a 'donation' to the British empire. Liars, such liars. How avaricious! They left the land stretching from Persia to Malaysia, which was once united under one flag, all obliterated, destroyed, demolished. Some left starved (the atrocious Churchill had hands in this), others left impoverished, and the rest divided along superimposed boundaries (you must know how many Sikhs and Muslims have died along Indo-Pak border, which is common even today). And when they are questioned, they call it 'imperialism.' Was this imperialism, or an existential genocide? The actions of the British are beyond merely reprehensible, they should bow down and pay to every land for their unfathomable bloody history, whether it was China to Ireland, or India to Africa. But I can tell you, they have done a fantastic job in sweeping their mischief under the carpet.
Had to say this. Very few people know about this, because all people read in their History textbook is the Holocaust, where people like Churchill are hailed as an apostle for freedom and democracy, and people like Clive are praised for their military strategy, yet the limeys might as well go down as paramount when it comes to the topic of genocide.
