This can help you if you ever experience an asthma attack Stop whatever you do, sit upright. Bending over, or lying down, can further limit your breathing. Take long breaths deep. It helps slow down the breathing to stop hyperventilation. Keep calm. Staying calm can prevent further tightening of your chest muscles and facilitate breathing. Drink a strong caffeinated drink. Strong caffeinated beverages such as coffee will make the airways open up somewhat, offering some relaxation for an hour or two.
