Does anyone have turnitin? I need to check a paper for plagiarism

justjm:

I don't have a Turnitin account but my school has a built-in widget for turnitin, if you put your file here I can check it to see the % plagiarized. It doesn't tell me anything else

justjm:

K since it's long it might take a bit–

DanielleLove:

that's perfectly fine lol thank you so much!!!!

justjm:

ah I suppose it's not budging - it just says 'File picked up' but doesn't tell me the % plagiarized. Sorry about it, I suppose someone else might need to check for you :/

justjm:

I'll get back to you if something shows up

DanielleLove:

aww ok thanks for trying :(

justjm:

Good news - it processed and it's 28% plagiarized (which is good, it's level green on my thing).

justjm:

DanielleLove:

thank you so much !!!!!!!!!!!

justjm:

np

DanielleLove:

does it show which part are plagiarized btw?

justjm:

Unfortunately, it doesn't let me (the student) see it, but it gives my instructor the full info. Typically it's probably the quotes or other stuff if you used them, I've had scores of up to 70% and it's gone fine.

DanielleLove:

yeah but my professor is saying that it is significantly plagiarized

justjm:

I'm not sure why he/she might be saying that. Perhaps use another checker that highlights what part is plagiarized

Nnesha:

what's special about turnitin? There are few websites where u can check it for free

justjm:

Most schools and universities use Turnitin, so probably for consistency ig

Nnesha:

oh oky

Listen kid, if you're worried about plagiarizing a paper, maybe you should go back and paraphrase the ideas you're taking from other writers. Do NOT copy anything word for word. If you try to pull a fast one on the school, chances are you will get expelled. Minus the use of direct quotations and correct use of MLA in-text ciations (or APA depending on the paper) you will be penalized for any sort of copying. It's a suspicious question you're asking to begin with, so take advice from a college student and do your own work in your own words.
