Sweet Home Alabama is a diss track, js Also depression is technically not curable, maybe manageable, which this playlist might help with

xXDerpyPugXx:

>~> me looking for Melanie Martinez :C

Isry:

Depends on the type of depression KittyBasil. Southern Man by Neil Young was the original diss track directed towards the south. Sweet Home Alabama was the response.

PinkGlitterz:

@kittybasil ITS NOT SERIOUS LMAOO

PinkGlitterz:

and it's an amazing, upbeat song to listen to

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) PinkGlitterz kittybasil ITS NOT SERIOUS LMAOO \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) idk, if it was a song written as an insult that's kind of serious ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Side note: There are no capitals in my 'name'. Nor do I respond to my 'name' typed like that. Please refrain from it in the future

PinkGlitterz:

Okay, I don't care if it's written to be somewhat of an insult, so is half of the diss tracks everyone is obsessed with on Youtube pages. Besides, it's an amazing song, and if you don't like it just don't listen to it LOL

PinkGlitterz:

oh my word my taste in music back then i-

kittybasil:

I've seriously taken music theory classes in college and they explicitly refer to "Sweet Home Alabama" as a diss track. Like it literally calls Alabamians incestuous (brother and sister sleeping together) in simple words. Sorry but it didn't look like the point was getting across, so For the record, I often brows YouTube and I don't see any "obsession" with diss tracks, but that's just me.

Isry:

Sweet Home Alabama was a response to Neil Young’s song “Southern Man” and “Alabama” which is why in the song it specifically references “I hope Neil Young will remember.” If you consider a response to Neil Young’s “Southern Man” and “Alabama” a diss track then I suppose it is. There’s a lot more context to it than what you’ve put here though.

PinkGlitterz:

yeah it seems as if it is a diss track.

PinkGlitterz:

i'm just appalled at my taste in music just 7 months ago... like what was i smoking smh
