Razor:

Alright, well, I'm actually having a hard time with this. Choose one of the nursery rhymes provided. Then recreate the rhyme in two different perspectives while considering the style, purpose, perspective, and mood. These elements should be different in each version that you recreate. See the recreation of “Humpty Dumpty” at the beginning of this document for an example. Choose ONE of these nursery rhymes on the next page. Copy and paste your rhyme choice in the box below.

Razor:

The nursery rhyme I choose to recreate is: JACK AND JILL Jack and Jill went up the hill To fetch a pail of water; Jack fell and broke his crown, And Jill came tumbling after.

Style, Purpose, Audience/Perspective, and Mood

Isry:

May I see the Humpty Dumpty rewrite?

Razor:

Humpty Dumpty isn't in there sadly :c

Isry:

Ah okay so they want you to keep the same style, purpose, audience/perspective and mood? Or would they like you to change those things?

Razor:

They want me to change them, in a different way so it'd still make sense. I just don't know how to do that. Poetry isn't my strong suit.

Isry:

Make sense in terms of the original nursery rhyme or make sense in terms of logically?

Razor:

The original rhyme. And I found the Humpty Dumpty poem it was talking about

Myyy baddddd

Isry:

No worries! What if you did Jack and Jill from the perspective of townspeople thinking they were doing unsavory things? And then them talking about Jack and Jill taking an iconic tumble. And then you could talk from the perspective of either Jack or Jill about their pail getting adventure.

Razor:

That is a really good idea. I'd just need help with picking out some words for it.

Isry:

Well since they made up the part about Humpty being peer pressured into climbing that wall you could have like a group of townspeople gossiping about the young couple on the hill.

Razor:

OH, that totally works, I think I got it. That'd be I think either third-person or limited 2nd person?

Isry:

Ooh good question let me think. It’s been a while since I took literature. Probably 3rd person. Since you’d be talking in a group and giving each person’s thoughts on the matter.

Razor:

Yeah, and then since the perspective has to be different for both, I'd assume Jack is the one talking in the next style. So first-person?

Isry:

yeah first person definitely.

Razor:

I can close the post, write both styles, and maybe you can check up on it when I'm done?

Isry:

Sounds dope
