Which events in post-World War 1 period helped Adolfo Hitler rise to power?

darkknight:

probably something to do with Germany being deprived of like all of its weapons and being restricted by other euro countries

kittybasil:

  • The primary reason was the Treaty of Versailles. Germany started WW1 but lost, and the reparations they had to pay were severe. This included not allowing the losing party to hold a standing military, and incredible loss of territory as payment for their actions, not to mention the actual money they had to fork out to pay off fines from the damages they were held to. This was a lot of damage against Germany and brewed resentment in its citizens at the implied injustice, which is partially why Hitler, a very charismatic speaker, was able to get into their hearts and win them to his side.
  • Second would be Anti-Semitism, because there were a lot of Jewish people living in Germany and parts of Europe nearby, and not everyone wanted them there. Hitler also exploited these negative sentiments in order to perpetrate "the Jew" as the scapegoat for German frustration.
