3b?

justjm:

Find area of the region that is wiped by taking the area of the bigger circle (r=22) and subtract it to the area of the small circle (r=6). Assume that the whole thing is a circle. \(22^2π-6^2π=448π\) Now you need a small portion of it, because the wiper doesn't wipe a full circle. So you know that the area cleaned is 10 sq inches, and you have the area of the whole circle. Now you can find the angle theta \(\frac{ θ}{360}448π=10\) you can find θ now

darkknight:

θ(448π)=3600 θ = 3600/448pi = 2.5578473

darkknight:

what is 2.55 though

justjm:

3600 or 360?

justjm:

you got it right nvm, 2.55 is the answer to your question

darkknight:

3600, oh the degrees

justjm:

2.55 is the angle that is sweeped

darkknight:

yes, ty
