alothegreat:

I need help with this problem, please... Choose the best answer. Labor rate = $12 per hour Hours worked = 36 Overhead rate = 125% Retail price of good furnished = $185 Sales tax rate = 7% Total bill for services and parts = _____.

darkknight:

what is the problem?

alothegreat:

I need to find the total bill for services and parts based on what is given.

Hero:

@alothegreat Says "Choose the best answer" which implies there are options to choose from.

darkknight:

well it is solvable without the answer choices

Hero:

Okay well, @darkknight you should have no problem helping @alothegreat with the problem then.

darkknight:

so you have this Labor rate = $12 per hour Hours worked = 36 Overhead rate = 125% Retail price of good furnished = $185 Sales tax rate = 7% you get 12 per hour and work for 36 hours so multiply them together (ill call this x) do you know what overhead rate and sales tax, retail price means?

alothegreat:

do you have to multiply it with the answer I get?

alothegreat:

I*

darkknight:

not really, so you know how many hours you worked and how much the labor rate correct, so multiply those two numbers to find how much labor costs in general

darkknight:

like for 36 hours

darkknight:

wait... Do you know what retail price means

alothegreat:

The original price of what is being sold

alothegreat:

so for the rate, do i multiply it to 432?

darkknight:

yes, final price that a good is sold to customers for

darkknight:

so if Labor rate = $12 per hour Hours worked = 36 Overhead rate = 125% Retail price of good furnished = $185 Sales tax rate = 7% that is 185 you apply a 7% sales tax and then the overhead rate then you add that to 432

darkknight:

Let me clear that up, so you have $432 that you will spend on labor, you will add that at the end. Your retail price is $185 with a 7% tax. So take 7% of 185 then add that to 185.

alothegreat:

I got 617, is that correct?

darkknight:

leme check

darkknight:

well I got a different answer. This is what I did, tell me if you are following. 1.25(12(36)+185+185(.07)) = 787.4375

darkknight:

where 12 times 36 is labor, 185+185(.07) is retail price with tax and then multiply the whole thing by 125% because that is the overhead rate

alothegreat:

well since it says "choose the best answer" I suppose I'd chose the closest answer on the answer choice which is 775.75

darkknight:

hm, I guess

darkknight:

what are the other options

alothegreat:

these are the other answer choices: 775.75 1,169.95 1,237.99 1,485.43

darkknight:

yep first one

alothegreat:

Well, thank you very much for taking the time to help me answer it. I certainly appreciate it.

darkknight:

be like the darkknight boi, you will learn, nice progress, keep it up." - darkknight
