Jane filled one transparent bottle and one brown bottle of the same capacity with pond water. She kept the first bottle in sunlight and the second in dark. After one hour she calculated the amount of oxygen present in both the bottles. What will be her observation?
Is there a plant or something in the bottle? Then you can connect it with photosynthesis and the light-dependent reaction.
@justjm Pond water has algae in it
AH it says 'pond water' so I'm assuming there are algae and other microorganisms. Briefly, the light-dependent reaction uses light to convert H2O to O2 in the grana. Without light, this process does not happen. So what can you say about the two bottles, considering that one receives an ample amount of light and other does not?
Short version is the pond water contains algae, or PLANT LIFE, which requires light to photosynthesize and produce oxygen as a byproduct. The bottle that gets more light will thus have more oxygen since more photosynthesis happens when there's more light
