It's a bit tough to ask someone on a date right now (with COVID-19 putting many communities on lockdown). Maybe when your local health officials say its safe, you can ask him out on a date. Or if your particular community is already in the clear, you can just ask him out.

If you're scared or apprehensive, just ask if he wants to go grab some food somewhere or catch a movie. It doesn't have to be phrased as a 'date' or hyped up. Going out as a couple is just something casual. It allows you guys to enjoy each others company.
