\({\bf{Depuis:}}\) is roughly equivalent to the English "since" or 'for" as it relates to time You can use depuis after a verb, or before an expression of time, to indicate how long an action has been going on ex: Je suis en "QuestionCove" depuis trois ans. (I have been on QuestionCove for three years.) Nous sommes les meilleurs amis depuis 2000. (We have been best friends since 2000.) note: if the action is currently ongoing, use the present tense verb. Other expressions: Depuis quand...? Since when...? note: use this expression when there is a specific starting point you are asking about ex: Depuis quand est-il ici ? (Since when has he been here?) Il est ici depuis ce matin. (He has been here since this morning.) Depuis combien de temps...? How long...? note: use this expression when you are asking about the duration of time a certain action has been going on ex: Depuis combien de temps a-t-il disparu? (How long has he been missing?) Il a disparu depuis une semaine. (He has been missing for a week.)
