Isry:

Let's compare Roman politics and government and the U.S. government and politics.

justus:

Interesting

Isry:

Does the U.S. engage in "bread and circuses" politics?

Isry:

What separates the U.S. from "bread and circuses" politics?

justus:

Liberal commentators in America relate Rome's collapse to poor moral values or an overstretched military — whatever ills their political persuasions would prefer to demonize at the moment. "That's why Rome fell," they say, saying this is why America, too, eventually falls.

Isry:

I'd argue that the biggest fall of the Roman Republic or (Senate) was the amount of corruption. Those who were up for election would promise the common people "bread and circuses" if they received their vote in the election. I believe this closely mirrors the current political climate in America. Whether that be the socialist "free college" or the populist candidates promise of "less government" they're both promising what they know is going to entice their demographics to vote for them. Rather than being elected on merit.

Macho14:

nah, lets compare communist politics and US politics.

Macho14:

Spoiler: there is no difference

justus:

HAHAH
