Do you think GPS bracelets used to track sex offenders should be used? Do you feel they are effective in preventing additional crime?

Macho14:

I don't think it could be, they could just as easily commit an offense, unless they had a restraining order, GPS trackers would have no point

justus:

@Shadow

Macho14:

:'(

justus:

Thank you macho for your answer.

Eiwoh2:

Perhaps it might help decrease the amount of criminals committing these heinous acts. However, since technology has advanced and some criminals can know their way around GPS bracelets, it's likely there will still be those who continue causing harm. There will even be those who won't care and just focus on doing much harm as possible before they're detained. Unfortunately that's the world we live in today. I don't think the bracelets would be useless, though.

justus:

Thank you, Howie.

justjm:

Obviously, it will and has been useful in deterring crime, and can be used as a safety measure among police departments. If you ask me, it shouldn't be limited to sex offenders only. You can see this study: https://nij.ojp.gov/topics/articles/sex-offenders-monitored-gps-found-commit-fewer-crimes However, as @Eiwoh2 and @Macho14 mentioned, there are always extremities in everything. Nevertheless, I wouldn't deem the extremities as a reason not to go ahead and use this.

Macho14:

Yeah @justjm and @justus Even though it may not stop the crime, it will make them think twice about doing it, and it should be for most criminals

justus:

I thought so too

Macho14:

bro, how many periods does that site need in its domain tho HAHAHAA
