IMPORTANT: Ask people what they think of hackers, and then post (a text in my course about hackers) So guys, what do you think about hackers?
depends what type of hackers and what they hack
I mean I feel like hackers do invade stuff and that is not good but they do do good to. Hackers are used in was to do stuff. I really don't know much because the only hacker I know is the darkknight who hacks for the good. But in my opinion hackers are more trouble than good and disrupt the order of the enviroment
I had no idea what else to say. I think hackers are bad
Hackers contribute to the infrastructure of the internet and cybersecurity. They have really helped in evolving the internet to what it is today by targeting its vulnerabilities and making principles for cybersecurity professionals to follow. I feel that a lot of people have a misunderstanding that most hackers are perpetrators and malicious, but in reality, most are Certified Ethical Hackers.
Okay, both of these opinions are very good. Now let me post the text. (I happen to like this text even before my course introduced it)
ig i agree with u
. . : : The Hacker's Manifesto : : . . Another one got caught today, it's all over the papers. "Teenager arrested in computer crime scandal", "Hacker arrested after bank tampering"... Damn Kids. They're all alike. But did you, in your three-piece psychology and 1950's technobrain ever take a look behind the eyes of a hacker? Did you ever wonder what made him tick, what forces shaped him, what may have molded him? I am a hacker, enter my world... Mine is a world that begins with school. I've listened to the teacher explain for the fifteenth time how to reduce a fraction. I understand it. "No, Mrs. Smith, I didn't show my work. I did it in my head..." Damn kid. Probably copied it. They're all alike. I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is cool. It does what I want it to do. If it makes a mistake, it's because I screwed up. Not because it doesn't like me... or feels threatened by me... or thinks I'm a smart Evil... or doesn't like teaching and shouldn't be here... Damn kid. All he does is play games. They're all alike. And then it happened... A door opened to a world... Rushing through the phone line like heroin through an addict's veins, an electronic pulse is sent out, a refuge from the day to day incompetencies is sought... A board is found. "This is it... This is where I belong..." I know everyone here... Even if I've never met them, never talked to them, may never hear from them again... I know you all... Damn kid. Tying up the phone line again. They're all alike... You bet your Evil we're all alike... We've been spoon fed baby food at school when we hungered for steak... The bits of meat that you did let slip through were pre-chewed and tasteless. We've been dominated by sadists, or ignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to teach found us willing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert. This is our world now... The world of the electron and the switch, the beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without paying for what could be dirt cheap if it wasn't run by profiteering gluttons, and you call us criminals. We explore... And you call us criminals. We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias... And you call us criminals. You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, you cheat, and lie to us and try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals. Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime is that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like. My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me for. I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual, but you can't stop us all... After all, We're all alike. +++The Mentor+++
some words were filtered out
cuz they are bad words
then tell me anything you have to add to your opinion
when you are don reading guys
mhm, so I have a question. Who is the you that the hackers are refering to? Goverment officials?
no, it is referring to the hackers you see being arrested in the news. normal people. The text is stating in such a view that the gov. is the enemy, which I happen to agree with "you wage wars, yet we're the criminals"
hmm true. The government can be corrupt, they can be good or not. But hackers in my opinion just make things worse. Some disrupt the security of things and people. So where they can make that point, ig they are still criminals
The government should do what they find as the best thing to do for the people. Which doesn't happen always
exactly, that was the point of the passage. however, i do think the cons greatly outweigh the pros
ok boomer
Who me?? XDD
no
ooooooooh darkknight
no
then who?? you are confusing sometimes
no
omg *facenoodle*
bruh you should've mentioned which kind of hacker you were talking about, that'll change my response completely
oh haha, we are talking about hackers that were quote "not hired"
As with everything, there's sides to it. I mean, somebody could use hacking tools for the better side of things. Such as someone working for a corporate company attempting to bring back some lost data or such. There's always a bright side. However, unfortunately, hacking is viewed by the majority as something that poses a threat and oftentimes pure evil. And yes, people misuse this. That's the nature of the world. Despicable intentions and greediness. But it's always nice to view the positive. After all, if we don't provoke suspicious behavior, we have a less probability of being hacked ourselves. :)
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Macho14 oh haha, we are talking about hackers that were quote "not hired" \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) In that case ignore the first part of my statement
yes, that is a perfect answer, now read the passage and tell me how your answer changes
After reading that passage, it seems like a youth that's gone through a tough life. And so he goes into the world of technology and begins to learn and practice the skills of a hacker. My guess is that he himself knows what he does is wrong, but continues to do it because he feels he dosen't fit into the real world.
Hmm. A most interesting answer... I have one more question after this that applies to what you are saying, so it should come easy for you.
Comparing that passage to what I said, I think it remains the same point. People will misuse it. And use it to commit virtual frauds, robberies, etc. Being lonely dosen't necessarily justify it. But it does give a backstory as to why the individual acts like this.
Okay, here is the next question: Do you think hackers of this time and modern times may be labeled criminals by government because they disclose government secrets? (Ex. So people don't trust them, or call them liars). In other words, the question asks if you think these so called "criminals" are in the right, and the government just labels them wrong to cover their own wrongs.
