\({\bf{Disclaimers:}}\) - I am not a dermatologist or other medical professional. I do not accept responsibility for any negative side effects from following this routine. - The term “Korean” simply refers to the country where this routine was popularized, and many products are produced. Anyone interested in improving their skin is welcome to try the routine. - Please read the ingredients of any product you use, as well as follow the instructions carefully. When you use a new product, I would highly recommend spot-testing and abstaining from that product if there is a reaction. - You do not have to do every single step every day. Most people see improvement even only applying a few products. Also, please do not go out and buy all of these things at once; rather, you can build your cabinet one product at a time.

\({\bf{Preparation:}}\) If you are wearing makeup, follow your usual makeup removal routine before starting the steps. In addition, wash your hands well to avoid transferring dirt or oils from your hands to your face. It would also be a good idea to tie your hair back if you have long hair.

\({\bf{Steps:}}\) 1. Oil cleanser What it does: removes oil-soluble debris and impurities How to use it: Apply the cleanser to your face. Wait for a minute or two. Wash your face gently with warm water and use a clean washcloth/towel to wipe off the oil. Since this is oil-based, water alone will not wash this off. 2. Water-based cleanser What it does: removes water-soluble debris and impurities How to use it: Apply the cleanser to your face. Wait for a minute or two. Wash your face gently with warm water and use a clean washcloth/towel to dry your skin. However, make sure you don’t dry too much, as you want a bit of moisture for the next step. 3. Exfoliater What it does: removes dead skin and dirt How to use it: Do not do this every day (more like 2-3 days a week, max). Apply to your face and gently scrub in the product. Wait a few minutes. Wash off with warm water. 4. Toner What it does: Balances the pH of your skin. “Ideal” skin is slightly acidic (5.5) and going too far below or above can cause skin problems like acne, dryness, oiliness, discoloration, or dullness. How to use it: Apply the toner to your face. Wait a few minutes for the toner to settle in. You do not need to wash this off. 5. Essence What it does: Varies from product to product, but generally aids in wrinkling, dryness, pigmentation, and uneven skin How to use it: Apply a small amount of product to face.

cont. 6. Serum What it does: Varies from product to product, but aids in hydration and nourishing the skin. Serums absorb well into the skin. How to use it: Apply a small amount of product to face. 7. Face masks What it does: Aids in hydrating the skin. How to use it: Make sure your face isn’t overly dry before applying. Open the mask and gently place on your face for a few minutes. Be sure not to leave it on too long or it can start drying out your skin. Remove the mask and wait a few minutes. 8. Eye cream What it does: Eye creams are formulated for the skin around the eye, as it is more sensitive than other parts of the face. Helps with puffiness, wrinkling, and dark circles. How to use it: Apply a small amount of the product under the eyes. 9. Moisturizer What it does: Hydrates the face. How to use it: Apply to face. Generally you do not need to wash this off. 10. Sunscreen (daytime) or night cream (nighttime) What they do: Sunscreen protects against UV radiation, which is a major cause of aging and skin problems. Night cream works slowly and delivers vitamins and other nutrients slowly over the course of a night. How to apply: Apply to your face. For best results, re-apply sunscreen every ~2 hours especially if you’re going in the sun (I set a timer for every two hours). If you are applying makeup after completing the routine, you may want to wait a bit for the product to settle into the skin.

\({\bf{Where~to~get~products:}}\) - Drug stores (ex: Walgreens, CVS) - Beauty stores: (ex: Sephora, ULTA) - Online retailers (ex: Amazon, Yesstyle) if you're particular about getting korean products in particular, innisfree and etude house are good low-budget (relatively speaking) brands for beginners \({\bf{References:}}\) https://www.sebamedusa.com/blog/acidic-alkaline-different-dangers/ https://www.businessinsider.com/10-step-korean-skin-care-routine-review-2018-10 also be sure to check youtuber channels like kimdao and beautywithin if you'd like to see this routine being done in real time
