Which of the following statements is false? Group of answer choices A-The product of two rational numbers is always irrational. B-The sum of a rational number and an irrational number is always irrational. C-The product of a nonzero rational number and an irrational number is always irrational. D-The product of two irrational numbers is either rational or irrational.

Fatts05:

what do u think it is? do u have a clue bc if u dont i will need to go further into my explanation

brooklyn718:

i think it is B but im not 100 percent sure

Fatts05:

ok then here goes...

Fatts05:

so if u look at A does the product of two rational numbers always irrational?

Fatts05:

if so then that one is marked of the list then u have 1 less answer to look at

brooklyn718:

so could it be B or D

Fatts05:

ok we are getting some where\

brooklyn718:

so could D be the answer?

Fatts05:

ummmm

Fatts05:

d is right so its______

brooklyn718:

irrational?

Fatts05:

c or b

Fatts05:

brooklyn?

brooklyn718:

is it c

Fatts05:

yes

Fatts05:

i think

darkknight:

@Fatts05, that is like as good as giving a direct answer. Tell the user what the answer is and how they got it. A-The product of two rational numbers is always irrational. B-The sum of a rational number and an irrational number is always irrational. C-The product of a nonzero rational number and an irrational number is always irrational. D-The product of two irrational numbers is either rational or irrational. Lets look at A, the product of 2 rational numbers is ALWAYS irrational (to prove something wrong, you only need one thing to disprove it. Take 2 x 2 for example (the product of these 2 rational numbers are not irrational. Now that we know our answer we don't have to go any further.

darkknight:

@Fatts05, attention, reread. The problem was asking for the false statement!
