[ Feel free to read for reference! ] Nested IF issues? (Not SWITCH sorry)

kittybasil:

Quote:
Our sample only includes people who are single and under 30 years old. Thus, individuals in our sample with wage incomes different from their household incomes must live with their parents. Please create a new column in the Cleaned Data worksheet which indicates whether individuals are 20 years old or younger, AND NOT living with their parents. (You may name the column “Young Independent” and fill in the cells with value “Yes” or “No”.)
How should I work on this? There are too many parameters for IF to work, unless \(\lt\) or \(\gt\) symbols factor in, and I'm not sure how to implement SWITCH (which worked in the last few steps, see previous Question post)...

kittybasil:

Oh wait. Mathematical symbols DO work. Never mind.

kittybasil:

Solved the first half of the problem with nested IF and relative reference. However I cannot get the nested IF to work with the second half's parameters. How exactly would I formulate "not living with their parents" (household income is equivalent to income wage)? Setting the 'test' expression as B2:B2500=C2:C2500 or B2=C2, for example, doesn't work. Does anyone have tips?

kittybasil:

Edit: It doesn't work and instead yells at me that I "have 4 arguments" instead of "[e]xpected between 2 and 3 arguments"

kittybasil:

IFS formula ended up solving my issue. Leaving this up for other people! ALSO: Tips on decoding numerical data to readable data. (also using SWITCH formula)

Hero:

Isn't it most satisfying when you are able to discover your own solution?

I am assuming this is an Excel Question?

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @moreso I am assuming this is an Excel Question? \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) It is, why? btw, if you wanted to help, I am already done with this content. However, feel free to add anything new!
