Trackstar21:

Rick rents a car from a company that charges him $25 per day plus 10 cents per mile driven. Which expression can represent the amount he owed on a recent rental? A) 25x + 0.1y B) 25.1x C) 25.1xy D) 25.1 + 35y

sammixboo:

So we have two variables in this question! We will have a variable for the amount of days driving, and separate variable for the amount of miles driven. We would need to then add these variables together to get a total price. Do you have an idea on what the answer could be?

kittybasil:

$25/day, let number of days be \(X\) which gets you \(25\cdot X\) or \(25x\) 10 cents/mile, let number of days be \(Y\) which gets you \(0.10\cdot Y\) or \(0.10y\) Adding these two together and you get...? @Trackstar21 Note: It says "0.10" because we are calculating in dollars. To write "ten cents" in dollar form is to use decimals.
