The members of a cooking club are making cakes, which they will sell at a street fair for $9 apiece. It cost $40 for a booth at the fair, and the ingredients for each cake cost $5. At some point, the club members will sell enough cakes so that their sales cover their expenditures. How many cakes will they have sold? Write a system of equations, graph them, and type the solution.

For this problem, we are going to have to make two equations. One to represent the amount of money they will make by selling x amount of cakes, and another equation to represent the cost of having the booth plus the cost of the ingredients!

sammixboo:

Yes, that graph is correct!

sammixboo:

Do you know how to get to the answer of 10 cakes?

Bubbly:

y=mx+b y=5x+40 y=9x+0

Bubbly:

thank you!

sammixboo:

It's not a problem! Once again, let me know if you need anymore help! (:

Okay. Have a great day!
