So here's what I think about. The question I ask myself is, "Can I shape this scatterplot into a linear function or any other function for that matter?" When I look at this function, it seems to be that the points are all over the place. If a linear line were to be drawn to represent the best fit line, there would be points all around and spread far away from the best fit line. And it applies to when the linear function has both a positive slope and a negative slope. What would that tell indicate about the association of x and y? Are they closely related? Can you turn it into a function?

Razor:

No and no? I assume since it can't be represented properly it wouldn't have any association, right?

InsatiableSuffering:

I would concur.

Thanks
