For the first one, you can see a few things. Angle SVT is equal to TVU. Also the 2 subtriangles share a common line (VT) So that means that you can set up a ratio So SV/VU = ST/TU can you find x now?

In the second one, post triangles are similar. So you can set up another ratio, where AE/CD = EB/BC
