BabyYoda2020:

Sam scored 43, 48, and 42 points on three tests. How many points should he get on the fourth test to get an average score of 50? 83 points 67 points 45.75 points 44.33 points

BabyYoda2020:

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!

justjm:

To find arithmetic average you'd add the total number of points and divide it by the number of occurrences. Here, you are working rather backward. You know the average and the number of occurrences, and you know the points for 3 of 4 tests, and it asks you to find score needed to get the desired average score of 50. Hence, you would form an equation like this: \(\frac{43+48+42+x}{4}=50\) And all you must do is solve for x.

BabyYoda2020:

OMG thank you so much!

justjm:

No problem!

BabyYoda2020:

Have a nice day :)

justjm:

You too :)
