Persuasive writing is not really about arguing. You are not trying to be the loudest voice in the room. Persuasive writing is about voicing a disagreement and then presenting reasons and evidence that work to persuade other people. The point is to draw readers closer to your side, not to defeat them. This requires a tricky balance; you want to present ideas with strength without pushing your audience away. In 35 words or fewer, what is your goal when you get into an argument with someone?
