A convex lens is used in a variety of things, we even have one in our eye! But it's commonly known to be in telescopes, microscopes, binoculars, and sometimes cameras. Now, if we think about each of these objects, what does this lens do for us when we look through them? It makes everything appear closer to us and allows us to see objects from a far distance. The lens gives us the ability to do this because of its shape, similar to what you picture a squished football to look like. The shape forces the light to meet in the middle at a point called the principal focus. So now that you know a bit more in regards to a convex lens, we have to eliminate some choices. Converges means to come together at a specific point. Diverges means to separate! When something is building, that means it is kind of sticking out. If it thinner in the middle, it is obviously thinner in the middle. What does a football look like to you??
