Question

When you live in a small town everything starts to become predictable. You think you know everyone and everything they do. Until one school year… It was the first day back to school after summer and my 16th birthday and since I’m a huge part of the school there’s always a school dance for my birthday. I’m a big part of the school because I’m in: yearbook, cheer, swim, volleyball, basketball, robotics, the school play I direct it and play the lead, art club, ping pong club, Academic Decathlon, Academic Triathlon, French club, Spelling bee, 4-H, I’m the president of the student council, choir, band, dance, and I try to volunteer at least once a week. Everyone in my town loves me and if I’m honest I hate this small town. Everything that happens here is the same year after year and I’m tired of it. I want something new and out of the ordinary. Maybe something new to do or meet someone new. I hold my heart-shaped pendant up to my lips and close my eyes, making the wish I never thought would come true.

“I wish for adventure,” I whispered to myself, not noticing that my necklace was beginning to glow as I got ready for my party at the school.
