DontWorry:

is there any way to delete your QC account?

dude:

No, we can indefinitely suspend you if you would like to

DontWorry:

XD i just dont use this site anymore

MrMudd183:

There isn't a way to delete your account. You can sign out of all sessions from the settings if that helps

DontWorry:

ig so

Ultrilliam:

It would literally break the site if I did

MrMudd183:

if you added the option to delete an account?

ramen:

how would it ultri?

Ultrilliam:

Because the way the backend interacts with the database and the client side interacts with the backend, it would expect the user to exist because they have data values in various places such as chats, questions, replies, dms, fans, fanned, blocks, etc. If the user was missing, it wouldn't be able to lookup for the user, or rather it would but it would return malformed data that would then be sent to the client, the client would try to interpret it but since it would be malformed it would then break the template, rendering the site unusable in whatever area the user was attempted to load in, however, since it would also be added into the internal buffer of cached users, it would crash the entire clientside of the site, breaking literally everything for everyone they have ever interacted with so long as the data for that user is being loaded.

Ultrilliam:

@dude ^Interesting bit of info if you ever need it

ramen:

that actually makes a lot of sense thanks ultri. btw congrats on 800

Ultrilliam:

Thanks :)

ramen:

this might sound dumb but why can't we have a placeholder for the person who deleted the account? like a fake person or a person representing the deleted user so all the data associated previously with that user would just be sent to the information copied to the place holder? is there a way to save data in the cloud?

ramen:

is there any way to store information?

Ultrilliam:

There is certainly a way to do that, and I thought about doing that, but then I thought "What is the point in deleting an account if everything they did still exists"

ramen:

well i guess the person just lost their interest in using this site, but what if they still want to have their impact left on qc? maybe thats why?
