Ocean07:

Please help me! Summarize the assassination plots for Abraham Lincoln, Vice-President Andrew Johnson, and Secretary of State William Seward.

Ocean07:

I also have more questions!

Ocean07:

@hep

darkknight:

Do you know who John Wilkes Booth is?

Ocean07:

Yes

darkknight:

Okay, so I read a book called Chasing lincoln's killer. what I remember from that is that the actor John Wilkes Booth had wanted to assassin all the head people to help the southerners win the war

darkknight:

But before the plan was carried out. The south had surrendered. That didn't stop John Wilkes Killer though, he was determined to carry out his assassination plan.

Ocean07:

Lol I can't read that I don't own it and the assignment is due soon.

darkknight:

Do you want it for each person individually?

Ocean07:

And yes

darkknight:

Okay, so Wilkes Booth himself went out to assassin Lincoln. Ford's Theatre is where it occured. Watching Our American Cousin, he was shot in the head by well-known actor Wilkes Booth

Isry:

So the assassination plot was meant to take out several key figures of Lincoln’s administration and some succeeded and some failed. Seward was in a house due to an unrelated medical complication and the assassin Powell went in with his getaway horse outside. Powell claimed to be delivering medicine and he gained entry into the house he was stopped by Seward’s son who demanded Powell give him the medicine. Powell obviously didn’t have any medicine and so he tried to shoot Seward’s son, he failed and then he clubbed Seward’s son. He ran into the bedroom threw aside Seward’s daughter and jumped on the bed where Seward was lying and stabbed him 5 times in the face and the neck. He was then thrown off by a soldier that was there to guard Seward and Powell managed to escape from him but not before injuring another of Seward’s son’s in the process. When he got outside he realized that his getaway horse and driver had bolted after hearing the commotion. He was captured the next day in Mary Surrat’s boarding house. Seward and everyone else survived the encounter. It was enough commotion to dissuade the plot for The Vice President Andrew Johnson’s life.
