Suppose you visit Mexico and you want to estimate the cost of a jacket in U.S. dollars. The jacket costs 1,258 pesos. The exchange rate is $0.117 = 1 peso or 8.54 pesos = $1. The 1,258-peso jacket is worth $147.19. When you shop, you can estimate the price in dollars by either multiplying or dividing. Multiply: 1,258 pesos • $0.117/peso ≈ 1,258 • $0.10 = $125.80 Divide: 1,258 pesos ÷ 8.54 pesos/dollar ≈ 1,200 ÷ 8/$1 = $150 Estimate the price of a shirt that costs 326 pesos and the price of a souvenir that costs 45 pesos. Research to find the current exchange rate for converting dollars to pesos and recalculate the costs above.

I REALLY NEED HELP WITH THIS TOO

Do you mind if I help with you tomorrow? Use the tag feature. Pug an @ before the users name like this: @darkknight

cellison:

@darkknight Hi this is due tomorrow unfortunately is there any way you could help us not but if not its ok

TheSmartOne:

Hey there!! Welcome to QuestionCove! Which part of the question do you not understand? They already gave you an example with numbers. It's just either a multiplication or a division and converting between two currencies (peso and dollar)

TheSmartOne:

They want you to find the current exchange rate for the currency The value of money always fluctuates so they want you to use values that are relevant right now All it takes is a simple Google search to find out how many pesos you would get if you exchanged one dollar and vice versa https://www.google.com/search?q=exchange+rate+of+pesos+and+dollars https://www.google.com/search?q=exchange+rate+of+dollars+to+peso

TheSmartOne:

So can you tell me How many pesos is equal to one dollar and How many dollars is equal to one peso In your question they said The exchange rate is $0.117 = 1 peso or 8.54 pesos = $1 But these values have changed since they last wrote this question. So click those links I sent you and tell me what the new exchange rate is

TheSmartOne:

And then following their example, you can either multiply or divide (depending on which number you want to use) to convert from pesos to dollars You should have two values 1 dollar = x pesos and 1 peso = y dollars You click those links and tell me what the numbers for x and y are And then to convert from pesos to dollars, you have two options Multiply: If you have 'a' pesos where 'a' is some number You can multiply it like a pesos * y dollars/1 peso = (a*y) dollars So you see how pesos cancels out? Similarly, the other option is dividing if we have b pesos b pesos ÷ (x pesos/ 1 dollar) we flip the fraction so we can multiply b pesos * 1 dollar/x pesos = (b/x) dollars So do you see how you want to set it up so that way the pesos cancels out and you just have dollars in the numerator?

TheSmartOne:

Let me know if that helps, and what you get!! If you don't understand still, then let me know what exactly you don't get. I'd be more than happy to help you

Johan45:

I am still very confused

cellison:

me too! do u know the answer?

TheSmartOne:

where did you get confused? did you read what I wrote? did you click the links? It literally takes not even one minute to solve your question
