I am pretty sure what we have to do is find why this statement is useful. They are in the same grade and are in the same class, which implies that they are in the same educational level. Also since they are in the same class and took the same test then their background info to the subject is relative to each other, meaning that they are most likely equally experienced in this subject. Also both of them said that the test was difficult so both of their inputs are useful because of their experience (it is similar and we proved it above)
