How do people come up with names of things/objects?
just wondering
Scientific names? They are usually based on an existing system which was originally in the Latin language. Example: Vulpes vulpes is literally fox two times in Latin. (It's the scientific name for red foxes)
thanks for telling me!... very interesting
ok so we have scientific names thanks kitty basil. how bout objects, stars, names of ppl, trees, floors.... im bored so i just wann know
most of what you are talking about are still scientific. Such as stars, trees, etc. It could be named after people too. You have to consider that. Try a bit of research on this topic.
im tryna be more specific....... but ok.. wudda you think??
Depends. Which object are you talking about?
anything really... like how do people come up with the word chair
alright so people have to give things a name, so lets go to an early civilization such as Greek. They would have to classify chair by giving it a name. Then that would get passed down and translated into different languages.
why chair though
why not like pfforot instead of chair
That, you will have to question the ancient greeks. :)
ok then thanks though
ima go to greeks now
good bye ppl
ima bored...
Locations are named based off of toponyms. Scientific entities have their own nomenclature as @kittybasil introduced to you. And most of the words today form from pieces of other langauges and slowly they integrate into our lingua franca, as @darkknight implied. And the cycle continues...
thanks justjm
