Can someone please help me? I don't understand. For modeling real world applications - when writing a rule for a sequence is the recursive or the explicit form better? Why?

This might help.

It's preference at this point doing the recursive form you need too determine the sequence, then find the common ratio, and then create the recursive formula by inserting the first term adding the previous term to the common difference. In order to find the explicit form you need to replace the term you are looking for with N which may be written in the two following notations functional, or subscript. In my opinion the simpler way of finding a number of the sequence would be the explicit form, but if the recursive formula is easier for you then complete the sequence by using that formula. Hope this helps.
