What is the solution to the system of equations? y = –5x + 3 y = 1 (0.4, 1) (0.8, 1) (1, 0.4) (1, 0.8)

lowkey:

How do you think of answering this question perhaps?

payton:

wym?

lowkey:

A thing to know is, it is very easy to find a solution on a system of equation by substitution or elimination. Substitution is when you substitute a formula inside the second formula. Elimination is when you do algebra to get rid of one formula's variable then add them together and solve.

InsatiableSuffering:

This is a pretty simple problem. Since we know that y=1, we can simply sub in y as 1. Therefore, we can just get the equation \[1=-5x+3\] Just isolate the variable and you find your x component. Now keep in mind that ordered pairs are always in the form of (x,y). Since we know that y=1, we already have part of the puzzle solved. Now all that must be done is to solve for x.
